When it comes to politics, there are few places in the United States that are as exciting, or significant, as New Hampshire. From the “First in the Nation” primary, to the first ballot cast in Hart's Location and Dixville Notch, to the state’s no-nonsense predictions and observations on winners, losers, and also-rans. New Hampshire is the place to be for candidates, surrogates, commentators, and anyone interested in the process that elects our nation’s highest officials.
During the 2004 election, New England College brought the electoral process to a whole new audience eager to learn and participate. Nearly 1000 college and high school students convened at College Convention 2004 organized by members of NEC’s faculty. This special program brought leading presidential candidates, international media, and participants together for a face-to-face look at the people and issues that shaped the campaign.
In November 2007, New England College will again host College Convention. Although the election seems to be a long way off, candidates are making news almost on a daily basis, campaigns are scheduling frequent visits to the state, and commentators are seeking voters’ opinions. We invite you to be part of this exciting event.
One of the hallmarks of an education at New England College is our emphasis on civic engagement. Whether you vote now or in the coming years, your understanding of the dynamics that influence public policy is important. Your involvement is crucial. College Convention 2008 is an opportunity to find out what it’s all about. I look forward to seeing you there! |
