Essay Contest

March 2007:
Dear High School Student,
Welcome to another exciting primary season. The Center for Civic Engagement at New England College is preparing for its own quadrennial tradition. College Convention 2008 promises to be an even more incredible experience for all participants, and we would like you to consider contributing to the success of our endeavors.
We are once again sponsoring an essay contest that gives you the opportunity to become part of the political dialogue. All high school students are encouraged to participate. The prizes include a $17,000 scholarship for the winner and $10,000 scholarships for four runners up to New England College. The scholarship money may only be used at New England College and are renewable based on academic performance. The five winners will each be given free conference admission. All students who enter will be eligible for an application fee waiver—students who are applying to the college should include in their application a note saying that they have submitted an essay to the contest. This is your chance to express yourself, to have your voice heard.
Requirements:
-
The essay should be no longer than 500 (five hundred) words and should respond to the question:
“What is the role of youth in the American political process?”
- Essay submissions should include a cover sheet with the essayist’s contact information and the words: COLLEGE CONVENTION ESSAY printed clearly.
- All submissions must be received by Thursday, November 15, 2007.
All entries need to be addressed to:
