Advisory Council - College Convention 2008

The proof of any democracy lies in the electoral process. The declaration of candidates, the transparent examination of their credentials, and the effective means by which the governed make their preferences known, create the familiar cycle through which the United States of America has brought forty-three presidents and countless national, state, and local leaders to office.

College Convention 2008 will showcase this electoral process for our nation’s college and high school students in an environment that strives to inspire a lifelong commitment to civic engagement and to stimulate their interest in the workings of government at every level.

Organized by faculty members of New England College in Henniker, New Hampshire, College Convention 2008 will bring leading candidates before our young people and provide an opportunity to examine their motivation to seek this nation’s highest office. The Convention will also inform delegates on the leading issues and challenges facing our country today. What better place to bring this democratic process to life than in New Hampshire where the state’s “First in the Nation” primary status signals a new chapter in American history.

We, the undersigned, endorse College Convention 2008 and lend our enthusiastic support to those young adults who seek a more informed knowledge of the workings and applications of democracy.
